Cosmetology Apprenticeship Program
The Cosmetology Apprenticeship Program is a 3,000-hour registered apprenticeship offered through Virginia Works in partnership with the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR). The program combines classroom instruction with supervised on-the-job training to prepare apprentices for licensure and entry-level careers in the cosmetology industry.
Upon successful completion of the program, apprentices will be able to:
- Demonstrate professional communication, appearance, and customer service.
- Perform cosmetology services in hair, skin, and nail care safely and effectively.
- Apply industry standards, sanitation practices, and safety regulations.
- Exhibit professionalism, integrity, and sound decision-making.
- Complete the required 3,000 apprenticeship hours and qualify to sit for the Virginia Cosmetology Theory and Practical Licensing Examinations.
- Meet the requirements for licensure through the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) and pursue careers in the beauty industry.
